Lomilomi

Resources

Lomilomi is a traditional Hawaiian practice incorporating pule (prayer), hands-on bodywork techniques, and other healing elements.  Lomilomi is often used alongside lāʻau lapaʻau, hoʻoponopono, and other Hawaiian practices, and with good diet and lifestyle, to restore wellness and balance.  Lomilomi is also used in conjunction with the Hawaiian fighting art of lua and other traditional physical art forms, to ensure excellent muscular performance and thereby prevent injury, as well as for relaxation and treatment of muscular pain.  Lomilomi is additionally used in families to support babies and children in proper growth, to increase good circulation and health for kūpuna (elders), and for general wellness.

Please note that practitioners of cultural arts adhere to different protocols in their practices.  There are also variations in approach, style and methods used.  Please consult with your kūpuna, or a trusted and knowledgable elder, before beginning any cultural healing process.
